9 Things You Need To Know for the Day Of Your Study

You’re in! Once you’ve qualified for a paid study and scheduled your session time, here are 9 things you need to know to have a smooth and successful visit to your local Curion facility.

⏰ 1. Arrive Early

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time to allow time for check-in. Studies run on a tight schedule. Running late? Here’s what happens:

  • 1–5 minutes late: You’re good! Just check in.
  • 6–14 minutes late: You might still be eligible but could receive a reduced incentive.
  • 15+ minutes late: We may not be able to include you in the study and payment will not be provided.

 

💸 2. “Pay and Send” Policy

Occasionally, panelists may be sent home due to overbooking or product issues. If this happens, you’ll receive 50% of the expected incentive (minimum $25, maximum $75). You’ll be notified on-site, and payment will follow our regular schedule. This does not apply to canceled sessions or reschedules.

 

🆔 3. Know Your Panelist ID

You’ll find your Panelist ID (or PID) number in the study invite email you received from Curion. You’ll need that number at check in.

 

👃 4. Be Scent-Free

Strong smells can interfere with sensory studies. Heavy odors may result in your dismissal without pay. If you are visiting our facilities, please refrain from the following activities for at least one hour before your appointment: 

  • Smoking/vaping (tobacco/nicotine products, marijuana, etc.) 
  • Eating garlic, onions or other fragrant foods
  • Drinking coffee 
  • Chewing gum/mints 

 

👶 5. No Guests or Children

Only scheduled panelists are allowed inside the facility. Please do not bring guests or children unless they’re registered for the same study.

 

📵 6. Phones Off During Testing

Please turn off and put away your phone before your session begins.

 

🎥 7. You May Be Recorded

Curion facilities are often observed by clients. You may be recorded during your session for research purposes.

 

🚫 8. Attendance Policies

To keep your panelist account in good standing:

  • If you have to cancel or reschedule, reach out to us at least 24 hours in advance via your portal. If you have to cancel last minute, please call us 1-800-291-1907.
  • No-shows or same-day cancels trigger warnings.
  • 3 infractions in 60 days = 60 day suspension.
  • Repeated poor attendance may lead to permanent suspension.

 

🧪 9. Testing Rules and Respect

  • Please don’t discuss the study with others.
  • Be ready to consume the full sample (no spitting out).
  • Be courteous, follow directions, and help us keep our environment professional, clean, and friendly.
