8 Tips for Thriving as a Product Tester

At Curion, you can get paid to test new products before they're available to the public. Product testers take pride in knowing their opinions shape the products they see at their local grocery store, big box store, or beauty salon.

Whether you're a seasoned Curion product tester or just starting your journey, follow these best practices to increase your chances of qualifying for a study, getting paid, and having fun.

Check your portal every day

1. Check your portal every day

Curion conducts new studies at six locations across the country every day, so new opportunities come up often! When you check your portal daily, you’ll see new screener surveys the day they go live. The more screeners you take, the greater your chances of qualifying for new paid studies.

Complete surveys to qualify for studies

2. Complete surveys to qualify for studies

Screener surveys are found in your panelist portal. They assess your experiences and preferences to help determine if you're a good fit for upcoming studies. Every study varies based on the brand's needs. For example, one brand may want to hear from panelists who love plant-based meat, while another wants to hear from panelists who prefer beef.

At the end of every screener, you’ll learn if you qualify or not. If you don’t qualify, don’t worry! It usually takes 5 or more screeners before panelists qualify for a study. Every time you take a screener survey and don’t qualify, you earn 25 Curion Reward Points that can eventually be redeemed for a prepaid digital gift card – sweet!

Keep tabs on your email

3. Keep tabs on your email

When new screener surveys are available, we’ll send a notification to your email. Make sure you keep an eye out so you can quickly and efficiently return screeners and stay ahead of the game.

Don’t miss your scheduled appointment

4. Don’t miss your scheduled appointment

Demonstrate your reliability as a product tester by communicating ahead of time if you can’t make it to your appointment time. If your appointment is more than 24 hours away, you can cancel in your panelist portal. If your appointment is in less than 24 hours, give us a call! The success of each of our studies relies on the participation of each one of our testers. When we know we can count on you, we will consider you for more product tester jobs in the future.

Tell us what you really think

5. Tell us what you really think

We rely on you to provide the objective truth, not the answer you think we’re looking for. The most critical aspect of any product test is authenticity. You might even qualify for a paid research study because you don’t use the product or stopped using the product for some reason. We always want your most honest opinion.

Don’t be confused by the lack of information

6. Don’t be confused by the lack of information

Some aspects of a study are intentionally kept vague. This is so Curion can deliver the most unbiased results to our clients. We qualify participants for paid research studies based on their background and preferences - no specialized knowledge needed. Product testing jobs can sometimes feel mysterious, but that’s just part of the process.

Learn how payment works

7. Learn how payment works

After the study is completed, panelists are paid with digital gift cards. Studies can pay between $30 and $200. Sometimes studies last longer than your last day or participation, so make sure to ask us when the end date is! Learn more about all the ins and outs of payments by checking out our Payment FAQ.

Have fun!

8. Don’t forget to have fun!

If you qualify for paid research studies, start getting excited about the unique sensory experiences to follow! It’s not every day you get paid to use your five senses to experience new products and share your opinion.
